Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera)
Coconut oil is extracted from the fresh meat of mature coconuts which are milled and pressed to extract the oil. This amazing oil can help reduce imflammation, keep skin moisturized and help heal wounds. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria. Coconut oil absorbs right into the hair shaft and strengthens it by preventing protein loss, promoting healthier, stronger hair.
Activated Charcoal (Activated carbon)
Our Steam Activated Medical Grade Charcoal comes from the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. It is made by heating coconut husks to very high temperatures. During the activation process, the tiny surface molecules dramatically multiply, giving one teaspoon of activated charcoal about the same surface area as a football field! This gives Activated Charcoal it's amazing ability to absorb toxins, viruses, bacteria, fungus and chemicals from your skin.
Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis)
ALOE VERA!! this amazing medicinal plant. Growing up, we always had a flourishing aloe vera clump in the backyard and whenever we came home sunburnt, it was the best remedy! We would chop off a leaf, cut off the tough spiky outer skin, and plaster the soothing inner gel over our burnt shoulders and cheeks.. instant (and somewhat smelly) relief! Now we use the great great great grandchildren of that same Aloe Vera clump (transplanted many times) to produce our gorgeous pure Aloe Vera Juice.. creating a soap that has natural healing properties (and we add some delicious essential oils so you cant smell that "o no aloe" smell either!)
Irish Moss (Chundrus Crispus)
Despite its name, Irish Moss isn't really a moss; it's a type of algae. This red, branching seaweed grows along the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast. Our Irish Moss is picked and sun-dried on the coast of Brittany, in France. Rich in iodine and antifungal suphur compounds, it softens and soothes the skin, helps reduce wrinkles and can ease sunburn, chapped skin, exzema, psoriasis and other rashes.
Peppermint Leaves (Mentha piperita)
Peppermint leaves contain several essential oils including menthol, which gives it its cooling properties and recognizably minty scent. It can relieve the symptoms of nasal congestion, soothe a headache and relax tired muscles. Our Peppermint Leaves are hand harvested and dried here in Queensland and we make sure we don't grind them too finely before adding to our soap to give a lovely gentle exfoliation.
Seaweed Powder (Ascopyllum nodosum), also known as Kelp Powder
Nutrient rich and full of trace minerals and amino acids, Seaweed Powder is a powerhouse for your skin and rejuvenates both skin and hair. Containing high levels of silicon to renew skin cells as well as amino acids which stimulate follicles, encouraging healthy hair growth.
Lime Essential oil (Citrus aurantifolia)
Cold-pressed from the peel of fresh limes, this sweet, fresh and happy citrus scent is stimulating and uplifting. Lime Oil also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties and the scent is naturally balancing and energizing.
Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
Used and cherished for centuries, Lavender has calming and relaxing qualities and is used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and irritations. The Ancient Egyptians and Romans loved Lavender for bathing, relaxation and perfume. Helps to reduce anxious feelings and promote peaceful sleep.
Patchouli Essential Oil (Pogostemon cablin)
A member of the mint family, Patchouli is known for its grounding, earthy aroma. It helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes and minor skin imperfections and promotes a smooth, glowing complexion.
Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil (Backhousia citriodora)
Our Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil is steam distilled in Australia from this amazing native plant. The richest natural known source of citral, a powerful antioxident that boasts a range of health benefits, including protecting the skin from common viral conditions.
Yellow oxide
Our happy colour, Yellow Oxide is the colour of Central Queensland earth, and has reflective properties that help to even out skin tone and diffuse the appearance of imperfections.
Green Oxide
We use Green Oxide to create the rich, strong moss green colour in our soaps, an amazing rainforest colour from nature more beautiful than anything man can make.
Walnut Husk (Juglans nigra)
Used for centuries by Native American and Asian cultures, Walnut Husk contains high amounts of antioxidants and monounsaturated fatty acids. High in magnesium and potassium, it promotes healthy skin and has antifungal and antimicrobial activity.
Cedarwood Essential Oil (Juniperus virginiana)
Known for its rich hue and warm, woody scent, Cedarwood Essential Oil has a grounding and clarifying effect. Promotes healthy looking skin.
Lemongrass Essential Oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus)
Our personal favourite, Lemongrass Essential Oil has a pungent, herbaceous aroma that can heighten awareness and promote a positive outlook. It is purifying and toning to the skin and a natural insect repellent.
Rosemary Essential Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis)
Considered sacred by the ancient Greek, Roman, Hebrew and Egyptian cultures, Rosemary Oil has an energizing scent which can reduce nervous tension and occasional fatigue. Its herbaceous aroma is great for creating an atmosphere conducive for studying.

Goats Milk
We are so proud of the goat's milk in our soaps. We get it from a wonderful local farmer about 20 minutes down the road from us, and he so kindly drops it off on his way past when he makes a trip to town.
Fresh from that morning's milking, it's rich & pure and so fresh & delicious we have to keep a close eye on it so it doesn't disappear down someone's throat before it can be made into soap!
Honey
SOOOooo finger-lickin GOOD! The raw honey in our Rascal Mountain Soap comes from our own beehive just 100m from the soap shed!
Over the last couple of years we have planted dozens of "bee-friendly" native plants around our property, and this summer they are all flowering and the bees are rewarding us with honeycombs bulging with liquid gold!
Sunflower Oil (Helianthus Annus)Rich in beta-carotene, Sunflower Oil helps reduce the signs of aging. Used by the Native American tribes to help soothe snakebites and to condition the skin and hair, the vitamin E in Sunflower Oil has antioxidants that help with premature aging and wrinkles, keeping your skin looking young and fresh. Sunflower Oil also contains linoleic acid, which helps to maintain the skin's natural barrier, supporting its ability to retain moisture.
Rice Bran Oil (Oryza sativa)Our cold-pressed Rice Bran Oil is rich in essentail fatty acids, trace elements, vitamin E and mineral salts, helping to moisturize the skin and promote skin microcirculation. Made from the rice husk (the bran), this oil retains the vast majority of the active compounds and benefits of brown rice. It penetrates the skin without leaving a greasy residue.
Shea Butter (Vitellaria paradoxa)
Shea Butter works as an emollient that softens and hydrates the skin and can reduce skin swelling. Because it contains several types of fatty acids - including lineoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic acids, that improve the skin's natural barrier, shea butter protects the skin from pollutants.
Olive Oil (Olea europaea)
Our Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil is grown and pressed here in Australia, and it has a very high concentration of squalene which is what gives olive oil the extra antioxidant boost. If you're prone to acne, using a soap made with olive oil may help decrease your acne by killing off the bacteria that cause the acne. Olive Oil can protect and hydrate even the most sensitive skin and helps to repair damaged skin tissue.
Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)
What is Lye? Bar soap is made through a process known as saponification (sapo is Latin for soap). Through the magic of chemistry, Lye, which is an alkaline solution of sodium hydroxide and water, is added to the vegetable oils and then stirred to saponify. During saponification the chemical reaction breaks down the fats and oils into fatty acid chains and the lye mixture is completely neutralized in this process, creating our gorgeous gentle moisturising soaps.
Water
Filtered rainwater collected only on our own property. We love those wild summer storms here on the mountain, filling our tanks with pure fresh water!
Orange Essential Oil (Citrus sinensis)
Calm your mood and reduce levels of cortisol secretion to help keep feelings of stress and anxiety to a minimum with the sweet citrus scent of Orange oil. Renowned for having a calming effect on both mind and body and can help reduce problems with sleeping.
Ginger Essential Oil (Zingiber officinale)
Ginger Oil lives up to its Latin name, putting a zing in your life with its strong, warm, spicy aroma. Often used to help combat nausea, arthritis, digestive upsets, colds and migraines, Ginger is a powerhouse of anti-inflammatories.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)
Cinnamon oil may help treat some types of fungal infections including Candida and gives a warming and stimulating sensation on the skin. The scent is warm and aromatic.
Yellow Clay
Made up of fine mineral particles and iron oxides which give it the warm hue, Yellow Clay can be used on dry and sensitive skin to draw out impurities while the essential minerals within the clay are released. Used to slough off dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and to tighten and tone.
Mandarin Essential Oil (Citrus Reticulata)
Gentler than other citrus essential oils, Mandarin helps create a calm space for a peaceful sleep. may help quell feelings of irritation, anger and anxiety. Great for children.

This aromatic plant is renowned as a natural cure for dandruff. Can also be used to combat pain, especially muscle and joint pain. In lab studies, Bay leaves have been found to stop bacteria growing near them.Â
